Superb oil painting on canvas depicting a pheasant hunt by listed British artist John Trickett (1952 - ). It depicts an autumnal landscape with the soft diffused morning light coming over the mountains. The trees in the foreground loom over the hunters as they gaze into the sky while the retriever waits patiently at their feet. Trickett has executed a romantic and highly detailed work in the overall composition. It is signed lower right and dated 1980, displayed in the original giltwood frame.

John Trickett was born in Sheffield and always had an interest in painting. He was inspired by Masters such as Rembrandt and Caravaggio and strived to excel. His paintings have been described by the Shooting Times as some of the finest in the world.

Trickett's hammer prices to $12,500.

Art has long been regarded as a strong and safe investment.
