A rare, Mid-Century French trompe l'oeil (French for fool the eye) faux bois oyster plate. It is a wonderful majolica plate with 6 wells and a center lemon well, by French maker, Claude Tessier Villenauxe. French Trompe l'oeil and faux bois together - a lovely combination. The maker's mark is on the reverse.
