A large Impressionist oil on canvas titled 'Martigues', by listed French artist, Andre Beronneau (1886 - 1973). This lovely painting depicts boats on the canal at Martigues in the South of France. The work is filled with wonderful color and light, from the beautiful flowers and foliage hanging over the stone work to the luminous reflections in the water. This work is rich with impasto and detail. It is signed lower left and titled verso. Provenance: private French collection. Sight: 22"L x 18"H. Beronneau, a highly sought after artist. exhibited at the Salon des Independants from 1926 - 1935. He painted primarily Mediterranean scenes.

Art has long been regarded as a strong and safe investment. Ellen Kelleher, a personal finance reporter for The Financial Times wrote an article recommending art particularly in the $500 - $50,000 range as a sound long term investment with an impressive current average annual yield of 9.7%.
