Impressionism Oil Painting Martigues Harbor Robert Chailloux (1913-2006)
A fine quality Impressionist oil painting on canvas of the harbor at Martigues, France by listed artist Robert Chailloux (1913 - 2006). This beautiful work depicts a composition executed with an eye for great detail; of figures, buildings and boats by the harbor. It is painted in the lovely vibrant colors of Provence. It appears to be a late afternoon scene with the street in shadow. This is probably the finest piece that we have seen by this highly sought after artist.
Chailloux studied at the special drawing school on the Boulevard de Belleville. Using a meticulous technique, he painted still lifes, landscapes and other works, some with allegorical themes. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1940, the Salon de la Societe Nationale des Beaux- Arts in 1943, and the Salon des Artistes Independants in Paris in 1945.
