Fine quality French Impressionist oil on panel by listed artist Henri Olive (1898 - 1980). It is titled 'Martigues 1923' with a frame plaque. It depicts a jumble of colorful boats moored at the well known harbor in the South of France. Ancient buildings loom over the water in the background. It is well executed and painted with beautiful impasto in rich vibrant colors of blues and ochre. It is a lovely work by this very well collected and sought after French painter. Olive painted many views of Les Martigues and still life works of fish. It is signed lower right and displayed in the original carved giltwood frame.
