A superb example of Moltino's work, it is a large scale panoramic busy canal scene with bustling activity in the foreground and beautiful buildings of the historic city in the distance. Excellent quality and condition, it is possibly a work painted for exhibition or a commission. Displayed in the original carved giltwood frame. The painting is signed and dated 1856, lower left,
