Antique English Micro Mosiac Tunbridge Box
An antique fine quality handcrafted English micro mosaic tunbridge ware box. This lovely late 19th-Century box is made of oak, fruitwood, rosewood and ebony. It has a gorgeous diamond shaped border on the top and is also decorated on each side of the box. The box would be a wonderful gift for a collector of fine boxes. The distinctive mosaic style of Tunbridge Ware was made by glueing sticks of different woods side by side and then slicing it into layers. It represents Britain's earliest tourist souvenir industry, which began in Tunbridge Wells in the 1600s.
