Antique Delftware Two Handled Lidded Dish

$995.00

Circa 18th-Century English or Dutch Delftware two handled dish and matching original cover lid. This rare tin glazed early faience dish is hand molded and hand painted in the traditional Delft colors of blue and white. It has a floral and foliate design painted on all sides including the handles and lid. We estimate it to date to 1750. It is similar in form to a posset pot, however it lacks a spout. We have seen a similar item identified as a posset pot as well as one called a loving cup. It may have been used as a small terrine or large butter tub. It is a rare and highly coveted piece of Delftware.

Dimensions: 8.5” Length x 5.5” Width x 5.25” Height

Condition is very good, light fritting consistent with age
