Antique Chinese Pillow Money Box With Lock
A lovely lacquered Chinese money pillow box hand painted with gilt dragons and peacocks on a rich jade green ground. It is lined with Chinese paper depicting village scenes. The lid is sloped and padded and the front has brass hardware so that the box can be locked. It has brass handles on the sides as well. Traditionally coins and other small valuables were placed inside the box, it was locked and then used as a neck pillow. We purchased it from the world famous Panjiayuan Antique Dirt Market in Beijing.
