19th-Century American Chestnut Wood Bowl
Wonderful antique primitive hand turned chestnut bowl found in West Texas. This large bowl has fine graining and has aged to a dark reddish brown. The color and patina on this lovely old bowl is fabulous. It is slightly out-of-round from years of natural shrinkage, a sure sign of authenticity. It is about 1/2 inch thick and has an old leather strap for hanging and is a lovely piece of Americana Folk Art. It was probably originally used as a dough bowl. It's perfect to hold a big bag of apples on your kitchen table or island.
