A superb pair of 18th-Century / early 19th-Century Dutch Delft plates with Chinese figures. The figure is 'Lange Lijs' or Long Eliza decoration and is based on Chinese porcelain examples. They are hand molded and painted with a chinoiserie design with a figure, gate, tree and surrounded with a floral and foliate motif. Tin glazed faience, these are fine quality plates and they have an orange border. The maker's mark verso is De Porceleyne Bijl, this workshop was active from 1657 - 1802.
